The Bizness

I finally updated the Art page – always linked to by the A button in the site’s header - to include most of my past projects. Please check it out if you get a chance. I hope to have more information there before too long.

Also: If anyone happened to download the Ninth Order of Simulacra video when it was available on the old site, please let me know. It looks like I don’t have a copy anywhere.  :/

Setup

Today, along with some very necessary patch cords, I picked up a 100W amp to pair with my trusty 15W one. And I just spent the last couple of hours playing with the new setup.

The upcoming shows are starting to feel a lot more real.

Sonic Circuits Update

There’s a second benefit for the Sonic Circuits festival on Sunday the 24th.

Check it out.

Also: Be sure to check out the schedule for the festival itself – September 28th to October 5th – and a list of all the artists playing.

Random

I’ve never had this happen before. Other than in the blogs of people who I know personally, I’ve never slacked at work and come across someone listing one of my CDs as something that they’ve been listening to. It’s a weird feeling! Part of me wants to scream, “THAT’S ME!! THAT’S MEEEEEE!!” like Christian Bale in Velvet Goldmine.

Max Status

My first performance patch is becoming a little bit of a monster. It doesn’t have a lot going on at this point – some LFOs that I route to virtual knobs in my hardware synth, a volume control that can do smooth tremolo stuff or stuttery staccato stuff, and a two note sequencer with an x/y surface interface – but deciding on real-time controls for each of those functions has introduced a lot of coding. (”A lot of coding,” in this context means, “A lot of coding for someone with no experience organizing Max/MSP patches.”) And I haven’t even built functional momentary behavior into the buttons that need it.

It’s going to be good to get out of town for a few days and come back to it a little more excited and inspired.

More Me

Before and during the period when this site existed as a directory with three MP3s and a TXT file, I have been “sharing” articles via Google Reader.

It’s a whole lot of architecture, design, crafts, Cat and Girl, actual cats, the dark side of Alf, and whatever the hell this is. So, if you don’t already have too much internets, here’s some more: Softpieces’ Shared Items

(Re)Emerge

Flurry of activity!

01. Working on rebuilding this site.

02. Gearing up for the September start of the new semester at school. This time I’m learning Flash!

03. Going through the tutorials provided in Max/MSP/Jitter.

04. Playing some shows. It sounds like an appearance at Sonic Circuits is pretty definite. I’m hoping to hear back about the MegaHz Fest sometime this month.

05. Using three (03) in prepartion for four (04). I’m working on a Max patch that will interact with my usual setup of digital modular synth, mixer, and reverb/delay pedal. I’ll post a screenshot as soon as it’s done.

05b. Preparing an EP demonstrating the new setup before the show(s).

More information as soon as it is available.
